Libres del Pecado

El bautismo nos libera de la esclavitud del pecado original y del pecado actual. El agua que se derrama en el nombre del Padre, del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo. Hoy, el sacramento del bautismo se administra constantemente a los niños, recién nacidos. Los bautismo de adultos toman lugar en la Vigilia Pascual a través del Rito de Iniciación Cristiana para Adultos. Adultos o niños que han sido bautizados en una iglesia cristiana, o pueden ser bautizados otra vez en la Iglesia Católica. Así como lo decimos en el Credo Niceno, “Confieso un solo Bautismo para el perdón de los pecados…”

El Catecismo enseña:

“El fruto del Bautismo, o gracia bautismal, es una realidad rica que comprende: el perdón del pecado original y de todos los pecados personales; el nacimiento a la vida nueva, por la cual el hombre es hecho hijo adoptivo del Padre, miembro de Cristo, templo del Espíritu Santo. Por la acción misma del bautismo, el bautizado es incorporado a la Iglesia, Cuerpo de Cristo, y hecho partícipe del sacerdocio de Cristo” (CCC 1279

• Agua – El agua del bautismo nos recuerda el mismo bautismo de Jesús por Juan el Bautista en el Rio Jordán. El agua es símbolo de limpieza y renovación para comenzar una nueva vida en Cristo. Estamos limpios del pecado.
• Aceite – En el bautismo somos ungidos en la vida de Cristo como “sacerdote, profeta y rey.” Se traza una cruz en la frente de los candidatos como un recuerdo que somos herederos del Reino de Dios.
• Vela – La vela bautismal se enciende del Cirio Pascual que permanece en la iglesia como el signo de Cristo luz del mundo. En el bautismo recibimos la luz de Cristo y somos llamados a compartir esa luz en el mundo.
• Vestidura blanca – La vestidura blanca con las que nos visten el día del bautismo es símbolo de la victoria de Cristo sobre la muerte y su gloriosa resurrección. Así mismo, la palia que se pone sobre el ataúd al momento de morir nos recuerda nuestras promesas bautismales, además nos recuerda también que nuestro destino es la vida eterna.
  

Además en circunstancias ordinarias, los sacramentos en la Iglesia Católica se administran válidamente por un ministro consagrado (del clero), en una situación de emergencia, el sacramento del bautismo puede ser administrado por cualquier persona.

En caso de necesidad, cualquier persona puede bautizar previendo pues que se tiene la intención de hacer lo que la Iglesia hace, derramando agua en la cabeza del candidato, mientras se dice: “Yo te bautizo en el nombre del Padre, del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo:” (CCC 1284)

• Inscribirse al menos con 1 mes de anticipación.
• No se hacen inscripciones por teléfono.
• Traer el acta de nacimiento original (La que provee el Estado).
• Los papas y padrinos tienen que tomar clases. Si ya las han tomado, favor de traer su comprobante.
• Los padrinos tienen que ser católicos, (Canon 872, 872 y 874 y el Archdiocesan Handbook, 5.2.6 Godparents). Un solo padrino o una sola madrina, solo si es un matrimonio se permiten dos. Ser mayores de 18 años (traer una copia de la identificación de los padrinos) y tener los sacramentos de Bautismo, Primera Comunión, Confirmación (traer los certificados, o mandarlos por fax de la iglesia donde se hicieron los Sacramentos) y si son esposos tienen que estar casados por la Iglesia. (Traer el Acta de Matrimonio Eclesiástico). Sin estos documentos NO se puede hacer la inscripción.
• Si alguno de usted falta a clases o llega tarde se tendrá que cambiar la fecha del bautismo.
• Las clases se pueden tomar una semana antes del bautismo.

**El Sacramento del Bautismo es muy importante**

Los padres y los padrinos deberán dar testimonio de su fe, ser los guías espirituales del ahijado (a). Por tanto se pide que se escoja un buen padrino, que sea católico practicante al mismo tiempo que le infunda la fe al ahijado (a), ya que el bautismo nos llama a una vida de santidad semejante a la de Cristo, nos hace hijos de Dios y participantes de la mesa celestial.

Nos hace también parte del cuerpo místico de la iglesia o sea Cristo. Nos llama a ser perfectos como lo es nuestro Padre Celestial.

Baptism frees us from the bondage of original and actual sin. Water is poured in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Today, the sacrament of baptism is often performed on infants, shortly after birth. Adult baptisms take place at the Easter Vigil through the restored Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. Adults or children who have been baptized in a valid Christian church are not baptized again in the Catholic church. As we say in the Nicene Creed, “I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins…”

The Catechism teaches:

"The fruit of Baptism, or baptismal grace, is a rich reality that includes forgiveness of original sin and all personal sins, birth into the new life by which man becomes an adoptive son of the Father, a member of Christ and a temple of the Holy Spirit. By this very fact the person baptized is incorporated into the Church, the Body of Christ, and made a sharer in the priesthood of Christ" (CCC 1279).

• Water – The waters of baptism recall Jesus’ own baptism by John the Baptist in the river Jordan. Water is a symbol of cleansing and renewal as we begin a new life in Christ. We are washed clean of sin.
• Oil – At baptism we are anointed into the life of Christ as “priest, prophet and king.” A cross is traced on the candidate’s forehead as a reminder that we are inheritors of the Kingdom of God.
• Light – The baptismal candle is lit from the Paschal or Easter candle that stands in the church as a sign of Christ’s light in the world. At baptism, we receive the light of Christ and are called forth to share this light with the world.
• White garment – The white garment that is placed upon us at baptism is a symbol of Christ’s victory over death and his glorious resurrection. Likewise, the white garment or pall that is placed over the coffin at the time of death recalls our baptismal promises and reminds us that we are destined for eternal life.

While in ordinary circumstances, sacraments in the Catholic Church are administered validly by a member of the ordained clergy, in an emergency situation, the sacrament of baptism can be administered by anyone.

In case of necessity, any person can baptize provided that he have the intention of doing that which the Church does and provided that he pour water on the candidates head while saying: “I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" (CCC 1284).

• Register 1 month at least prior the date of baptism.
• No registrations by phone.
• Provide a birth certificate, ORIGINAL FROM THE STATE.
• Parents a godparents are required to attend classes. Please bring validation that a class has been taken in another parish.
• If a parent or sponsor misses a class or show up late, they will need to reschedule.
• You must classes a week before the baptism.
• For sponsor (s) must be Catholic (Canon 872, 874 and the Archdiocesan Handbook, 5.2.6 Godparents)
• Be at least 18 years old (bring a copy of ID)
• Received the sacraments of Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation, please bring the certificate, or fax them from the church the Sacraments were given, (without these documents you can not be registered)
• If a couple, they must have the sacrament of Matrimony within the Catholic Church (please bring the Ecclesiastic Certificate).

**The Sacrament of Baptism is very important**

Parents and godparents should give testimony of their faith al well as to guide the child in the Christian spiritual life. Godparents should be catholic practicing in order to help the child to grow up in faith. Remember, the baptism calls us to imitate Christ. It makes us children of God, participants in the celestial banquet .

With the baptism we are part of the mystical body of Christ. We are also call to perfection by our Heavenly Father.
